The best high school football players in Texas will face off tonight in the annual Oil Bowl Football Classic at Memorial Stadium.
The official kickoff is at 7:30 p.m., but there will be plenty of pre-game activities, so plan to arrive early.
This year’s game brings the Oil Bowl back to its roots in 1938, when the game pitted the best players of East and West Texas lining up across the line of scrimmage from each other. Oklahoma, which provided a formidable opponent for the Texas all-stars for many years, will sit this year’s game out.
The 2013 Oil Bowl is presented by the Maskat Shrine and Under Armour. Lead-off events have been taking place all week, as the players practiced. The game itself will include naming of the Oil Bowl Queen, performances by the Oil Bowl Band.
Tickets for the game are $15 for reserved seats or $10 general admission. Tickets can be purchased by calling 766-4511 or at the gate.
